I'm Farzad Vafaei — an AI & Technical SEO Engineer based in Toronto, working at the intersection of search, AI, automation and software.
I studied computer science at Ryerson University and graduated with honours. My early working years were spent in IT and systems work — servers, migrations, database recovery, network support — the unglamorous side of technology where things either work or they don't.
Marketing came next, and the two never felt separate. Campaigns, landing pages and analytics are software problems wearing different clothes. Once I understood how acquisition actually worked, the engineering background stopped being a footnote and became the advantage.
Search is where the two disciplines meet most directly. Crawling, indexing, architecture, templating, structured data and performance are all engineering concerns; keyword and entity strategy is a marketing one. I spent years running both sides for agencies and in-house teams.
As answer engines and LLM-powered search changed how discovery works, the questions changed too: not just how a page ranks, but whether a model can quote it, and whether the entity behind it is legible. AEO and GEO are now part of every strategy I write.
Today I build the systems behind the strategy — programmatic page generation, scraping pipelines, outreach automation, WordPress plugins, reporting dashboards and agentic AI workflows. When the tooling doesn't exist or costs more than it should, I write it.
